OBERHOFEN, Switzerland (June 21) - U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) Vice President, Marketing Communications, Tom Kelly, was named chairman of the International Ski Federation's (FIS) Committee for Public Relations and Mass Media. Kelly will serve along with vice-chairman Ignacio Valenzuela of Spain for a two-year term. The FIS Council decision was formally announced June 21 by the FIS.

PARK CITY, Utah (June 8) - U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association President and CEO Bill Marolt has announced that USSA Vice President of Athletics Alan Ashley has decided to leave the company after nearly 15 years. Ashley, who has held the head athletic position since 1997, was credited with the leadership that brought record levels of athletic success the past few years across a diverse program with six uniquely different sport programs and grassroots growth at every level.

PARK CITY, Utah (June 7, 2006) - The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) has named Richard Coe as its new chief operating officer, according to USSA President and CEO Bill Marolt. Coe will replace Bill Gorton who has been scheduled to leave USSA July 15. Gorton had served in that role since 1996.

VILAMOURA, Portugal (May 26) - The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) was successful on key initiatives as the biennial International Ski Federation (FIS) Congress concluded in Portugal Friday. USSA was successful in its bid for the 2011 FIS Freestyle World Championships, picked up 22 events on the 2006-07 FIS World Cup calendar, led an auspicious lobbying effort to introduce women's ski jumping into the 2009 FIS Nordic World Championships and saw ratification of a U.S. proposal for future introduction of new ski or snowboard disciplines or formats.

VILAMOURA, Portugal (May 26) - U.S. ski and snowboard resorts will host nearly two dozen alpine, freestyle and snowboard World Cup events during the 2007 season, the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association announced Friday. Final determinations on the sites and dates were completed at the International Ski Federation (FIS) biennial Congress. The schedule includes six alpine races, a dozen freestyle contests and four snowboarding competitions.

PARK CITY (May 12) - Financier Pete Kellogg of Short Hills, N.J., a longtime board member of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association and a driving force in its drive to create a legacy endowment, was named Friday night as winner of the Julius Blegen Award, USSA's highest honor for volunteer service to the 101-year-old federation.
